About this program
The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program provides a strong foundation in the sciences and develops advanced clinical and drug administration competencies. Emphasizing professionalism, integrity, and diversity, the curriculum prepares students to practice in virtually any professional pharmacy setting upon graduation. Applicants must complete the equivalent of two years (62 semester hours) of pre-professional education at an accredited college or university before admission. The online Pharm.D. pathway follows the same curriculum as the on-campus program. Students complete coursework remotely while gaining field experience through clinical rotations at approved sites within their communities.
Curriculum overview
During the first three years of study, professional coursework integrates physiology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology to provide a comprehensive understanding of how drugs interact within the human body. Courses on drug action and therapy are delivered using a systems-based approach, covering the cardiovascular, neurological, and renal systems.
The curriculum supports:
- Integration and application of scientific knowledge
- Collaborative small-group projects and assignments
- Development of critical thinking skills
- Early laboratory training in compounding and dispensing
Students participate in a broad range of introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences throughout the program.
Clinical education
Clinical and field-based learning is integrated throughout the program. Students undertake laboratory training and structured pharmacy practice experiences to develop real-world clinical competence and readiness for licensure and professional practice.
